KOTA KINABALU: A book entitled “SHARE Model for Leaders” which contains the latest framework in applying the concept of leadership through knowledge transfer programs was launched recently.

The book was produced by the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate and Research, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Associate Professor Dr Fatimah Ahmedy and the director of the UMS Community Involvement Sustainability Center, Dr Jakaria Dasan.

It brings together experiencebased writing of knowledge transfer projects to the community written by several academics.

The launching ceremony was officiated by the Vice Chancellor of UMS, Professor Datuk ChM. Ts. Dr. Taufiq Yap Yun Hin at the Azman Hashim Gallery.

According to Taufiq, the publication of the book is an innovation outside the box of thinking that combines practical strategies and approaches as well as involving relevant strategic partners as well as selected focused communities.

“This book combines practical strategies and approaches and involves relevant strategic partners as well as selected focused communities.

“It was developed as a result of the output of the Sustainable Development Goals: University for Society (SDGU4S) program under the collaboration of the Academy of Higher Education Leadership with UMS,” he said.

He added with the availability of the book, it can be used as a guide for community involvement programs in the future.

Meanwhile, Taufiq welcomed participants among academics from 20 public universities who participated in the SDGU4S program that is currently held in Kampung Marakau and Kampung Kilimu, Ranau.

“This program is also very unique because it involves the target community to provide practical experience to the participants involved.

“The community of Kampung Marakau as a concentrated community and the community of Kampung Kilimu as a comparative community in shared leadership will definitely provide a very useful experience impact as well as produce realistic findings that can be further applied by the Bombon Marakau community in particular.

“I believe all participants will be able to learn something new from this program,” added Taufiq.
