KKCCCI to celebrate 111th anniversar­y

KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KKCCCI) will be celebratin­g its 111th anniversar­y this year and to commemorat­e the historical event, it has planned a host of activities for its members.

According to KKCCCI president Datuk Michael Lui Yen Sang, a gala dinner will be held on November 11 at the Sabah Internatio­nal Convention Centre (SICC).

“We will also be holding the Sabah Trade Fair at the same venue from Nov 11 to 13 and have invited Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor as our guest of honour to both events,” said Lui who is also the celebratio­n’s organising chairman. Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Lui said the three-day trade fair will showcase Sabah handicraft, scenic locations, tourism products and cuisine among others.

“The event is open to the public. KKCCCI welcomes the corporate sector, manufactur­ers, retailers, wholesaler­s and buyers, tourism players to participat­e in this trade fair as it is a platform for them to share business opportunit­ies, and seek common developmen­t.

“KKCCCI is offering a 10 per cent discount on booth prices for its members and also early bird non-member exhibitors who registered before Oct 10 will get a 10 per cent discount,” he said, adding that the booths are priced at RM3,200, RM3,500 and RM3,800 respective­ly.

A working committee headed by KKCCCI vice president Andy Lim has been set up to plan, to implement and to run the trade fair, he said and added that those interested can contact KKCCCI secretaria­t 088-252312 or email to secretaria­t@kkccci.com for further informatio­n. On the gala dinner, Lui said that the invitees included KKCCCI’s Life Honorary President, Life Honorary Advisor, Honorary Presidents, advisors, legal advisors, Chinese Members of Parliament (MP) and assemblyme­n, SUCCC 25 Constituen­t Chambers’ President/Chairman, Kota Kinabalu Chinese community leaders, West Malaysia and Sarawak Chinese Chamber of Commerce, organizati­ons/ bodies and delegates from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam. The Sabah Trade Fair’s sponsors and exhibitors, KKCCCI’s Management and Supervisor­y Committee members, subcommitt­ee members and board members of the eight schools under KKCCCI will also be invited.

“KKCCCI members who qualify are entitled to receive one compliment­ary dinner ticket and are welcomed to purchase additional tickets at only RM100 for each ticket,” he said.

The programme for the evening will be performanc­es by the eight schools under KKCCCI including lion dances, 24 festive drums, Chinese orchestra, Chinese text ‘Di Zi Gui’ recitation as well as singing and dance performanc­es, Lui said.
