Spirit of camaraderie at BN campaign for Tuaran candidate

-

TUARAN: The spirit of “setiakawan” (camaraderie) was on full display during the Barisan Nasional (BN) campaign programme for Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate Datuk Joniston Bangkuai in the Pantai Dalit state constituency here.

Supporters showed a strong sense of solidarity as they greeted Joniston, who is running for the Tuaran parliament seat, upon his arrival at the BN Mengkabong, Telipok Rugading, and Nongkolud district polling centres, on Friday.

They burst into loud cheers as Joniston waved at them.

Tuaran Umno division deputy chief and Pantai Dalit assemblyman Datuk Jasnih Daya was also present and gave assurance that the BN machinery in the state constituency will give its all to guarantee a landslide victory for the GRS candidate.

“Datuk Joniston is the best person to lead Tuaran because he is a leader of high calibre who remains true to the ‘setiakawan’ spirit.

“We need a leader like him, who is vocal and will stand up for the people during good times and bad. Unlike some individuals who have betrayed the ‘setiakawan’ spirit for personal gain,” he said.

Joniston, in thanking BN backers, emphasised the significance of bolstering GRS-BN camaraderie, calling it “a key to stability.” He also stressed the need for a member of parliament from the current state administration to strengthen the state’s position during negotiations and collaboration with the federal government.

Joniston is set to wrest the Tuaran parliament seat from incumbent Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau (Pakatan Harapan).

He will also face off against Jo-Anna Sue Henley Rampas (Warisan); Muminin Kalingkong @Norbinsha (Parti Pejuang Tanah Air); Bobby Lewat (independent) and Datuk Noortaip Suhaili (independent).
