What have you done as deputy minister? Peto asks Azis

-

KOTA KINABALU: The Sepanggar member of parliament has the bigger responsibility for the constituency, said Inanam assemblyman Peto Galim.

“The welfare of Sepanggar is the responsibility of three assemblymen, but the bigger responsibility falls on the parliament member,” he said, referring to Warisan Sepanggar candidate Datuk Azis Jamman.

Azis has served as Sepanggar MP since 2018.

Peto said that Azis had accused him of not doing anything.

“But all this time that Azis was a (federal deputy) minister, what has he done?” Peto said to the media at the Inanam PH office.

He added that his constituency, Inanam, has three chronic problems and there was no budget to solve them.

Recently, Azis has asked his Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) opponent, Mustapha Sakmud, to instead ask the Inanam assemblyman for the water issue affecting Sepanggar, after the problem was highlighted by PH in the form of a poster.

Mustapha, who was also present at the press conference, invited Azis together with his other contenders in the upcoming GE15, namely, Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Yakub Khan, Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat’s Jumardie Lukman and Pejuang’s Yusof Kunchang for an open debate on the water issue in Sepanggar.

He also introduced his manifesto for Sepanggar which contains 20 commitments and five pillars for development.

He said that the manifesto was to ensure Sepanggar is developed holistically and systematically.

“The prevailing problems of water shortage, poor road conditions and traffic congestions are among the focus of Harapan for the people’s welfare,” he said, adding that the five focus areas serving as measuring tool for Sepanggar to achieve ‘Sepanggar Sejahtera’ status in the first five years are infrastructure, education, employment, economy and welfare.
