Dangerous when political gang becomes too strong and powerful

-

KOTA KINABALU: This 15th General Election on Saturday could be the turning point in Malaysia politics and may be there is some changes in the government that would be anticipated.

After many days of vigorous campaign by all the political parties with the white, blue, red, orange flags, the people are even more confused.

The campaign news flying around have become more torturing for the voters to decide on what colour to choose.

The negative, twisted, damaging, true and untrue news, all became bundled up. This is sickening and upsetting, but listen or not, the choice is yours.

Former Member of Parliament in Kota Kinabalu, Datuk Dr Hiew King Cheu, who is also the coordinator of the Sabah PRU 15 BEBAS Alliance, said this in a press statement yesterday.

Hiew referred to the basis election exercise/procedure which is to allow the people to select and elect their representative for their constituency, ie. to represent their voices in the Parliament.

Very sad the election system and representation has evolved into political parties take control. The bigger the party/gang is, the more powerful they become. Gradually they take control of the government by ganging up a few parties (even enemies) with majority seat to gain the control of the government. The political gang wins, the people have no say after casting their votes and they lost totally.

“The political system created monsters, and not for the benefits of the people. What shall we do or what best to do? You voted red, some voted blue, some voted white, by the end of the day they are together on the same boat, sharing power, what say you?

“Before the polling day, talks between parties are being held and negotiated, except the people remain and being kept in the dark, fighting among themselves and hurting each other. For what, the parties wouldn’t care, as long as they control power, they know whatever tactics they used is just to secure power. They wouldn’t care what come next after they won.

“Some times this is dangerous, for example during the last Sabah election, a local party with other parties in the gang took away the Chinese votes causing no Chinese representative in the new government, this is a heavy price to pay.

“Luckily the new government due to good faith had appointed quite a number of Chinese leaders to take up important post, including an appointed assemblyman.

“This picture is clear that we cannot put our hopes and trust to any political gang, the history reminds us that. When a gang has become too strong and powerful, the troubles start to shoot. We must return the power to the people, and let them have the say.

“We, the BEBAS (party-less) candidates in this GE15 sincerely and faithfully wish that you will give us the chance to serve you and be your servants in your constituency.

“Our vision is to uphold justice and to serve,” said Hiew in a statement yesterday.
