Man jailed, fined for drunk driving
KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate’s Court here on Tuesday sentenced a 25-yearold man to a day in jail and RM10,000 fine, in default, three months’ imprisonment for drunk driving.
Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles also ordered Aldrian Kee Sen Chin to be disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving license for a period of not less than two years from the date of conviction.
The accused, who was driving a Proton Saga, was stopped during an operation on May 8, 2022 at 2.05am.
A breath analyser check revealed the alcohol level exceeded the limit.
Aldrian was charged under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The same court sentenced four persons under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for taking drugs.
Magistrate Lovely fined Rakiy Salim RM2,000, in default, six months’ jail.
Rakiy was charged with taking drugs on 18 August 2022 at about 5.20am at the Narcotic Crime Investigation Department near here.
Lovely also imposed a fine of RM2,000, in default, six months’ jail on Azhaari Sharudin after he was found taking Amphetamine and Methamphetamine on August 31 at the Narcotic Crime Investigation Department in Kapayan.
Azhaari was also ordered to undergo police supervision for two years at the nearest police station.
Sharulnorazhar Rosslan was charged with taking Amphetamine and Methamphetamine on September 15 at the Narcotic Crime Investigation Department, Sabah Police contingent headquarters.
Lovely sentenced Sharulnorazhar to six months’ jail from the date of his arrest.
He was also ordered to undergo police supervision for two years at the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, Awang Mohammad Fazrie Said was charged with taking Methamphetamine and Amphetamine on August 31 at the Narcotic Crime Investigation office, Penampang district police headquarters.
Lovely sentenced him to six months’ jail from the date of his arrest and ordered him to undergo police supervision for two years at the neratest police station.
