MMBC Penang rep claims classified masters title of tenpin bowling tournament

KUCHING: Wan Muhammad Zarif Ikram Wan Mazlan of MMBC Penang posted a total of 2,066 pins, averaging 229.56 pins a game, to claim the Classified Masters title of Sarawak Internatio­nal Open Tenpin Bowling Championsh­ip at Megalanes Sarawak in Emart Batu Kawa yesterday.

He started off with 198 pins in the first game, but later scored 220, 274, 209, 239, 225, 263, 221 and 217 throughout the next eight games to top the 60-bowler field.

Chang Hsiang Yu of Chinese Taipei also put up a strong showing, collecting 2,045 pins to grab the first runner-up spot, while finishing third was Alisha Iman from Sunway Megalanes with a score of 2,010 pins.

Sarawakian bowlers completed the Top 5, with Tsen Fan Yew of ABAS recording 1,970 pins to secure fourth position, and Muhammad Aniq Zulhilmi at fifth place with 1,964 pins.

Taking the respective sixth to eighth place were Muhammad Hafiz Darwisy Azhlan of MMBC Penang (1,953 pins), Ang Poh Huat (1,939 pins) and Mohammad Zuhair Zulani of MMBC Penang (1,938 pins). At ninth place was another Sarawakian, Nur Hazirah Ramli with 1,931 pins, while at 10th place was MMBC Penang’s Muhd Raul Haikal Mandra Raman with 1,920 pins.

Meanwhile, Chong Jun Foo of ABAS goes into today’s Open Masters finals as the top qualifier with 2,491 pins.

With him on the Top 10 list are national youth bowler Megat Zaqrul Haiqal Megat Zairudin, Lindsay Kilpatrick, Mohamad Hafiz Zainuddin, Aris Ardila Santos, Ahmad Aidil Abdul Halim, Dena Buxton, Abner Loo Chun Lik, Nevern Netaneel Marcellinu­s and Airel Amri Suhaimi.

The Top 60 finishers qualify for the Open Masters final, and another group of Top 60 finishers qualify for the U25 Masters final.

The Top 10 qualifiers for the U25 Masters final are Megat Zaqrul, Muhammad Hariz Adlan Azman, Abner Loo, Airel Amri, Melvin Gilbert Gimang Tingau, Muhammad Hafiz Darwisy, Alyaa Addini Zulamri, Izz Naqiuddin Putera Islahuddin, Nurul Ayunni Junaidi and Tsen.
