Berwang Age-Group Track and Field Competition
KOTA KINABALU: The 4th Berwang Age-Group Track and Field Competition will be held at the Penampang Stadium on December 10-12.
The categories featured are under-9, under-12, under-15 and Open, organising chairman Andy Ng Kong Pak said.
Ng went on to say that national athletes including national 100m record holder Mohd Azeem Mohd Fahmi and Sabah’s high jumper Mohd Eizlan Dahalan are expected to take part in the competition.
“Over 1,000 participants from 85 teams will take part in the competition, which will be using the electronic timing system.
“Certificates will be given to all the participants and medals to be awarded to the top three winners of all the events,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Ng added registration is open until December 6 and he urged those interested to sign up for the competition.
The registration fee is RM10 per individual event and RM20 for a relay team.
Meanwhile, Ng thanked the Chief Minister’s Department and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, Tawau member of parliament Lo Su Fui, Sabah Sports Council and Angkatan Hebat Sdn Bhd for supporting the competition.
“I would like to thank all the sponsors and also all the participating teams. Hopefully this will be the sign of the future of track and field.
“It is a good sign that so many athletes will be joining us ... we looked forward to having a good event
“I hope the people of Sabah will come and witness the fastest man in Malaysia (Azeem) and also the national high jumper (Eizlan),” said Ng.
