KOTA KINABALU: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s Royal Decree in Parliament has specifically touched on full support for the resolution of issues regarding the demands of the State Governments of Sabah and Sarawak on the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Sepanggar member of parliament Mustapha Sakmud said among those mentioned are the transfer of gas supply regulatory powers to the Sabah Government, recognising the Public Works Departments of Sabah and Sarawak, improving the level of special grants and empowering the economy throughout the country, especially Sabah and Sarawak.

“The Yang di-Pertuan Agong also emphasized in his order in strengthening the administration of law and the development of court complexes in Sabah and Sarawak.

“His Majesty also added how important quality basic infrastructure and rural access connections deserve special attention,” he said.

Mustapha, who is also the Deputy Minister of Human Resources, said Sepanggar parliamentary which consists of urban and rural areas really needs basic infrastructure and road network.

Water crisis and floods that hit almost every week are hindering the lives of the majority of people in Sepanggar.

“Representing the people of Sepanggar, we fully support the recommendation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and request that the relevant ministries, departments and agencies at the federal and state levels pay serious attention to these people’s issues.

“As an initial initiative, the Parliament office has heard briefings from the ministries and departments involved. However, for now we are not satisfied with the implementation status of the projects.

“As a next step, we request that a coordination meeting to be held between the members of parliament and the State Assembly so that we can both help each other in finding short and long-term solutions to overcome the water crisis, traffic congestion and flash floods in the Kota Kinabalu

City Hall area, especially the Sepanggar parliament,” he said.

He also hopes this concerted effort will realize the vision and mission of Sabah Maju Jaya and the idea of a Malaysia Madani.
