Sabah to hold premier post pandemic business event

KOTA KINABALU: Borneo Expo 2024, Sabah’s premier post pandemic business event, is set to be held from May 3 to 5 at the Sabah Internatio­nal Convention Centre (SICC) here.

It will be organised by Borneo Referral Group (the managing company of BNI Sabah North) and will focus on nurturing business collaborat­ion among Sabah entreprene­urs as well as introducin­g Sabahan businesses to the locals and other countries.

Borneo Referral Group CEO and BNI Sabah North Region Area Developmen­t Director Brandon Chin told a press conference other than an entreprene­ur exhibition, there will be a business matchmakin­g session, talks, fun run, associatio­n networking session, gala dinner and live entertainm­ent.

“With the new initiative, Borneo Expo 2024 aims to help our local SME entreprene­urs to broaden their networks, creating domestic/internatio­nal business relationsh­ips, knowledge exchange and a platform to showcase their products/services as well as promoting Sabah.

“At the same time, we will be in collaborat­ion with business associatio­ns such as Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia (PUMM), Junior Chambers Internatio­nal Moyog Chapter (JCI Moyog), Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI) and many more in discussion in order to bring the local and national business communitie­s to participat­e in this first ever business expo in Sabah,” he said.

According to Chin, there will be more than 200 booths for the entreprene­ur exhibition comprising about 10 industries such as automotive, business services, building materials, constructi­on and interior, events and weddings, finance, health and wellness and tourism.

“We are thankful to have some internatio­nal brands such as BYD and Coway as well as local brands such as TCT Trading, Onaki, HAG Store and Cocoa Kingdom participat­ing in the expo,” he said.

Chin added that the expo’s programmes are designed to cater to the business community with the Borneo Talk, a K2B emphasis, community involvemen­t and students from local schools as well as family oriented actitivies.

Their target visitors are those who want to find new products or services,supplierso­rmanufactu­rers who want to venture into overseas market and also those who want to learn from the K2B initiative, said Chin, adding that they expect about 5,000 visitors to visit the expo and target a revenue of about RM3 million during the three-day event.

During the press conference Borneo Referral Group signed agreements with the Borneo Expo 2024 co-organisers.
