Ninja Warrior challenge returns with new twist
KOTA KINABALU: The Coastal Ninja Warrior Challange will be held at the Labuan International Sea Sports Complex on April 2728.
Participants will tackle challenging obstacle courses in the event organised by Labuan Corporation in conjunction with the Labuan International Sea Challenge 2024.
Event coordinator Roger Frederick expects the challenge will be as successful as the inaugural edition last year.
“There will be a new twist to the Ninja Warrior Challenge this year,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.
“Unlike last year when the course was built on dry surface, the participants can expect to get wet this time around.
“The course will be on the sea side and if you fall, the sea water will be waiting for you,” he added.
Roger expects athletes from last year’s event including from around the state, Peninsular Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Labuan to return and challenge for the title.
“Abdul Shamnizam Rahman, the defending champion from Labuan, has confirmed his entry.
“We can expect another exciting battle to crown the Coastal Ninja Warrior Challenge champion,” said Roger.
Meanwhile, the challenge will feature the Open category where the champion will take home RM2,000 in prize money and trophy.
The second and third placed winners will receive RM1,500 and RM1,000 respectively, including trophy for both.
Athletes who finish in fourth to sixth placing will win RM500, RM300 and RM200 while those from seventh to 10th placing RM100 and 11th to 20th placing RM50, in addition to medal and certificate.
The Open category entry fee is RM60 for Malaysian and RM100 for foreigner.
“There will also be a side competition opened only to Labuan youth … those interested can make walk-in registration and participation is free.
“It is an opportunity for them to try the course and may be win prizes too.
“The top 15 winners will win RM100 each,” he said.
