Don’t make socks issue a political material — UPKO Youth

-

KOTA KINABALU: The government is urged to take stern action against those acting harshly such as the petrol bomb incident at KK Mart Bidor in Perak.

Malaysia UPKO Youth chief Felix Joseph Saang said that the untoward incident was disappointing and shocking and may continue if it is not addressed.

He said that although the incident resulted in a small loss, what if it resulted in injury and loss of life of the workers at the premises.

“The government must take stern action on those acting violently such as that which happened in Perak,” he said.

He added that investigation must be done to ensure the perpetrator(s) are identified and a fair punishment imposed so that such an incident does not happen again.

Felix said the UPKO Youth are worried if the incident became a seed for other incidents that threaten the peace in the country.

He said he believed there are parties that deliberately turn the ‘stockings’ issue as a political mileage.

“It is undeniable that a mistake has taken place and KK Mart has not just apologised publicly but the owner of the company has also been charged in court.

“Hence, leaders of political parties should stop playing with this issue because it will not benefit the nation.

“Right now, the country is facing so many problems including economic issues and cost of living. It will only affect the country including the view of foreign investors towards the country,” he said.

Felix said Upko Youth is confident and believes that all Malaysians love peace, harmony and mutual respect even if they have different religions and races.

“Therefore, stop it, don’t make the issue of socks a political material that can harm the country. That’s enough. ‘Enough is enough’,” he stressed.
