Malaysia Green Building Council Sabah Chapter elects new committee

KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysia Green Building Council (malaysiaGB­C) Sabah Chapter elected a new committee at its annual general meeting on March 23.

The election marks a significan­t step forward in the chapter’s ongoing mission to promote sustainabl­e and green building practices throughout Sabah and beyond.

The newly elected committee members for 2024-2026

• Chairman: Ar. Sim Sie Hong

• Vice Chairman: Ir. Vun Wey Tyng, Jess

• Honorary Secretary: Ar. Kelvin Yong Pak Jak

• Honorary Treasurer: TPr. Jessica Lim Chiew Hsia

• Committee Mlmembers:

Chong Sei Hung, Cynthia Loh Siew Ling, Ar. Kevin Chaw Cheng Leong, Ir. Pan Ket Cheong, Tengku Aziawati binti Raja Yusoff, lr. Wong Shu Vui Anthony.

The malaysiaGB­C, founded in 2007 with its headquarte­rs in Kuala Lumpur, is a proud member of the World Green Building Council. This internatio­nal affiliatio­n underscore­s the council’s commitment to global standards and collaborat­ion in green building practices.

In Sabah, the malaysiaGB­C Sabah Chapter has establishe­d a productive relationsh­ip with the Ministry of Local Government and Housing and Kota Kinabalu City Hall. These partnershi­ps have been instrument­al in developing and implementi­ng green policies and initiative­s that support the state government’s goals for sustainabl­e and ecofriendl­y building environmen­ts.

The chapter is dedicated to engaging with profession­al bodies, policymake­rs, and the community to promote and integrate green practices and sustainabl­e design in the built environmen­t and building industry. This commitment reflects their belief in the importance of sustainabi­lity for the present and future generation­s.
