CYBERJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), in collaboration with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia), yesterday launched a talent development programme, the “Digital Leadership Excellence Programme: Navigating the Tech Frontier”.

The initiative is aimed at empowering leaders across industries and the public sector with essential skills and knowledge, enabling them to spearhead digital transformation within their organisations.

MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din hopes the collaboration with Huawei Malaysia will help the commission achieve its goal of producing digital leaders, who are able to improve their understanding and skills in the field of technology and leadership.

“In addition, all the knowledge gained through this eight-month programme will be able to benefit all participants to progress in their respective careers and fields,” he told the media after the launching event at Huawei Malaysia Global Training Centre, here.

Meanwhile, Huawei Malaysia chief executive officer Simon Sun said the programme offers a comprehensive blended learning approach, including online learning, workshops, participation in conferences, practical attachments, a capstone project at Huawei Malaysia, and a seven-day industry visit to

China.

He said leaders of organisations, ministries, and academia need to understand the various domains of technology to drive its adoption and leverage its transformative capabilities to create better outcomes, regardless of sector or industry.

“This programme, formulated by Huawei Malaysia and MCMC, is here to assist in making that possible.

“What this programme hopes to achieve is to equip the current generation of organisational leaders with a deeper understanding of emerging technologies, to gain additional technological skills, and to successfully apply this knowledge and skills to improve operational efficiencies,” he said.

According to Simon, the programme will engage a total of 300 participants in leadership positions across government agencies, industry and academia over a three-year period beginning this year.

“The eight key domains of content that will be covered over 32 modules are leadership, 5G technology, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, green technology, and cybersecurity,” added Simon. — Bernama
