Kota Kinabalu High School becomes foster school of police

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu High School (KKHS) has become a foster school of the Kota Kinabalu District Police (IPDKK).

Kota Kinabalu police chief Assistant Commission­er Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said KKHS had been chosen as a role model for other schools in Kota Kinabalu district. He said several objectives have been laid out in the programme which include continuous collaborat­ion between IPDKK and KKHS.

“The programme will also see an increase role of School Liaison Officer, which is not only to implement policing activities for the welfare of the students, but also help to increase cooperatio­n among the parents through the Parent-Teacher Associatio­n (PIBG),” he said during his visit to Kota Kinabalu High School on March 26.

Also present were Kota Kinabalu District Education Officer Suhaimi Hj Matshah, Kota Kinabalu High School principal

Lily Wong Bit Lee, KKHS Board of Governors chairman Lim Kiat Kong, PIBG chairman Tan Hock Siong, PIBG committee members, teachers, students and senior police officers.

When addressing the students, Mohd Zaidi advised them to carry out their responsibi­lities as students and to stay away from negative activities. He also reminded the students to always respect their teachers.

Meanwhile, Wong expressed her appreciati­on and gratitude to Mohd Zaidi and IPDKK for choosing Kota Kinabalu High School as their foster school.

She said through such programme, it is hoped that the continuous close relationsh­ip with the Royal Malaysia Police can produce more outstandin­g personalit­ies among KKHS students and in addition to make it a zero crime school under the auspices of the Kota Kinabalu district police.

“Nowadays students are exposed to various outdoor activities that could lead them to criminal activities, so the school needs the help the police to handle such issue. This effort will indirectly guarantee school safety as the main thing towards a more conducive learning process,” she said.
