LTAT names former Armed Forces chief Azizan Ariffin as new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Armed Forces chief Gen (Rtd) Tan Sri Azizan Ariffin was appointed as the new chairman of the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) while the board’s chief financial officer, Mohammad Ashraf Md Radzi was appointed as chief executive effective April 1.

LTAT said in a statement yesterday that Azizan, 71, who has 40 years of experience in the Malaysian Armed Forces, has held various important positions throughout his illustriou­s career including Air Operations Commander, Air Force deputy chief as well as creating history as the first Armed Forces chief from the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

He received a military education from the Air Command and Staff College (USA) and the National Defence College (India). He also underwent a Basic Aviation Course in Australia and qualified as a pilot of the Royal Malaysian Air Force on July 7, 1977.

“His extensive experience in military affairs, diplomacy and leadership developmen­t can guide LTAT to continue to achieve its strategic objectives and increase its role in looking after the welfare of ATM personnel and their families,” it added.

Meanwhile, LTAT also announced that Mohammad Ashraf, holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Universiti Tenaga Nasional, was a certified accountant serving as the chief financial officer of the LTAT board since March 2020.

“Throughout his tenure, he has demonstrat­ed competence in managing financial affairs, leading the financial strategy statistics and ensuring compliance with the principles of financial accountabi­lity at LTAT.

“His stewardshi­p has made a significan­t contributi­on to the transforma­tion agenda of the organisati­on which succeeded in restoring the dividend to a sustainabl­e rate as well as enhancing the overall financial position,” he said.
