Gagasan Rakyat Likas breaks fast with tahfiz students

-

KOTA KINABALU: Party Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Likas division on Thursday held a breaking fast ceremony with tahfiz students.

There was also the presentation of Hari Raya donations to 20 students of the As-Syatibiyah Al-Quran Tahfiz Study Center of the SDA Mosque, Kota Kinabalu City.

Gagasan Rakyat Likas chief Mohamad Bahrin Abdul Karim hopes that the efforts of the As-Syatibiyah Al-Quran Tahfiz Study Center will continue to receive support and help from all parties, especially the residents of Kota Kinabalu.

“This ceremony is to get closer to the people and strengthen friendships with various parties,” he said after the ceremony held at the Sabah International Convention Center (SICC).

Also present were Assistant Treasurer, Golden Lim; Women Chief, Halizah Din; Youth Chief, Syahmee Mohd Ron; and Beliawanis Chief, Noor Azee Ashikeen Asngari.

Bahrin said that the mosque’s outreach activities should not be focused on the elderly but should also involve the younger generation and women.

“This is important to ensure that the mosque’s function and role as a center for the unification of the ummah can be felt by all levels of society. I also hope that this center can produce more tahfiz and young imams in the area,” he said.

He explained that these young imams can help lead prayers especially in villages if their services are needed due to the absence of imams in certain villages.

In fact, he said they can also be used as an example in forming good morals among other teenagers, especially in efforts to curb various social problems today.

“This is my suggestion and it is one of the efforts to attract more young people to mosques and suraus and give them new opportunities to show leadership by becoming imams,” he said.
