Four Tongod villages receive project allocation
KOTA KINABALU: Four villages in the Keramuak sub-district in Tongod received an allocation of RM450,000 to implement basic rural development projects.
According to Kuamut assemblyman Datuk Masiung Banah, the assistance, distributed through the State Legislative Assembly allocation is for the repair of three community halls.
Speaking at a Hari Raya celebration ceremony in Karamuak on Wednesday, Masiung said the halls, located in Kampung Kuala Keramuak and Kampung Tenaga Baru, were allocated RM150,000 each, while an additional RM100,000 was for the maintenance of the community hall in Kampung Keramuak Dalam.
“RM50,000 was for the construction of public toilets and a shelter for the Keramuak Aki Team to control wild elephant groups in the area,” he said.
Meanwhile, the State Natural Disaster Committee also approved an allocation of RM800,000 to supply water tanks to residents affected by water shortages throughout the Tongod district, including villages within the Keramuak sub-district.
Each drought-affected village will receive 10 tanks placed at strategic locations to enable residents to access water supplied by the State Water Department, the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) vice president said.
According to Masiung, all the mentioned rural development projects would commence from early May.
