KDNFC players must adapt to VAR technology, says Rezal

KOTA BHARU: Kelantan Darul Naim FC (KDNFC) players need to adapt to the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system to avoid being punished in this season’s Malaysia League (MLeague) campaign.

KDNFC assistant head coach Rezal Zambery Yahya said players need to be more careful in making decisions that may end up helping the opponent gain an advantage through the help of VAR.

“As we are new to this technology, the players need to quickly adapt especially in their own goal area as there are many eyes who will be watching.

“Similarly, the match duration will increase by nine or 10 minutes compared with before, four to five minutes extra time, so the players need to be fitter,” he said after the pre-season match against Sri Pahang at the Sultan Muhamad IV Stadium on Wednesday.

Commenting further, Rezal Zambry said the team’s coaching staff will review the training pattern to ensure the players are fitter for longer matches.

“We need to improve our knowledge in using VAR in the next two weeks before the actual kick-off on May 11,” he said.

Meanwhile, commenting on the match, he said there was improvement from his players.

“We got a lot of positive things, especially in terms of player compatibility and we have about two weeks to improve our weaknesses before facing the first match of the Super League against Sri Pahang FC,” he said.
