The 25-year-old overnight leader, who scored identical fiveunder 67s in the first two rounds to start the day with a 10-under 134, survived a two-stroke deficit just before the last three holes to complete the final round with a three-under 69.

Sabahan Nicholas, who started the day a stroke behind after carding 68-67 in the first two rounds, bogeyed the par-three 17th to finish the round with a four-under 68 and force a sudden-death playoff.

Although both golfers had good drives in the first playoff hole at the par-four 18th, Nicholas missed his birdie putt while Galven rolled his in beautifully from 12 feet to bag his second title in the Toyota Tour this year, having won the season-opening Tun Ahmad Sarji Trophy in February.

The victory saw Galven take home RM31,500 as the champion while Nicholas pocketed RM20,700.

“It wasn’t my best (performance) and I am glad I got my game back on the back nine and hit some good shots.

“I had a lucky drive (in the playoff), hit a good second shot and had a great putt. “I feel great winning… It has given me a lot more confidence going into the season, though we are almost halfway into the year, I feel good,” Galven said.
