Back in time at Jianye Movie Town

-

A Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) delegation was transported back in time when they visited the Jianye Movie Town in central China’s Henan Province recently.

They enjoyed the old world charm and had a unique and immersive experience at the theme park.

The buildings are reminiscent of Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan, in the 1930s.

Since its opening, Jianye Movie Town has been attracting visitors from far and near, making it a must visit place for the young and old.

After stepping into the movie town, the SCCC members led by president Datuk Frankie Liew felt like they were in a different world.

The movie town has restored the old buildings in the early days of Zhengzhou commercial port, and transformed the film history and culture and film industry into interactive experience.

Actors, actresses, singers and dancers dressed in qipao, hanfu and cheongsam greeted and entertained the visitors and invited them to sing and dance with them.

A visit to the town is made more memorial by dressing in qipao, hanfu, cheongsam and other Chinese traditional costumes which can be rented from the shops at the entrance.

One of the blocks of buildings gave the impression to the SCCC visitors that it is the scene of the movie Tai Chi.

The street restores the panoramic view of the film Tai Chi, which was designed by Tim Yip, the best art director at the 73rd Academy Awards.

This movie town also has mountains, rivers and gate towers, fairs, a bustling capital and weird machinery.

There are live acrobatics, wushu, tai chi and action-packed drama shows on the street and outdoor stages at different times of the day.

At the centre of the town is a man-made lake where water shows based on movie themes are performed.

Frankie stopped by a stall to seek the service of a fortune-teller dressed in olden day clothes. He used two trained parrots to pick up Tarot-like fortune cards and read out the fortune of his client.

At a hidden corner, the SCCC members stumbled a wine museum where equipment for making Chinese wine in the old days are kept. The place is piled with wine jars and you can learn about the history of wine making.

After exploring the town, they headed to a restaurant to have lunch.

The movie town has many stalls near the exit serving delicious local foods. There is also a KFC restaurant.

Handicrafts, souvenirs and local fragrances are also sold at the movie town.

At night, the place is transformed into a sea of colours, but the SCCC group did not stay back to enjoy the amazing and unforgettable sight.
