Perlis prince urges Polish companies to expand businesses in Malaysia

KANGAR: The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullai­l has urged Polish companies to look for opportunit­ies to grow their business in Malaysia which provided a conducive business environmen­t.

He said Malaysia’s success was driven by business-friendly environmen­t in terms of the Liberal Equity Policy, expatriate employment and attractive tax regimes.

“Polish companies should take advantage of the opportunit­ies to expand their businesses in the field of biotechnol­ogy, informatio­n and communicat­ion technology, and research and developmen­t, as well as enhance cooperatio­n with Malaysian companies and institutio­ns of higher learning.

“I hope bilateral relations between Malaysia and Poland will be further strengthen­ed through enhanced cooperatio­n in various fields, including trade, investment and education,” he said when receiving Magdalena SkowyraJel­onek, wife of Poland’s ambassador to Malaysia, and three Polish university officials at Istana Arau yesterday.

The university officials were University of Informatio­n Technology and Management in Rzeszow chancellor Dr Andrzej Szelc, Tischner European University in Krakow chancellor Prof Dr Marek Plasinki and Technical University of Lodz representa­tive Elzbieta Jozefowicz.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) entered into collaborat­ion with two Polish universiti­es es - Warogy Warsaw University of Technology and Kozminski University - by signing a memorandum of understand­ing tanding (MOU) with them in September tember last year.

The Raja Muda of Perlis, , who is also UniMAP chancellor, said he was confident that the cooperatio­n eration would help strengthen bilateral ilateral ties between the two countries tries in the field of education.

Speaking to reporters s after the courtesy call, UniMAP iMAP vice- chancellor Prof Datuk atuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin said UniMAP would expand its coltin collaborat­ion with Polish institutio­ns of higher learning in space research, automotive, , informatio­n technology and computer science.

UniMAP, which signed two MOUs with two universiti­es in Warsaw last year, would sign letters of intent on cooperatio­n with the University of Informatio­n Technology and Management in Rzeszow, Tischner European University in Krakow, and Technical University of Lodz, he added.— Bernama
