KUCHI NG: Pol ic e h ave commended Sarawakians for their maturity during the entire election process, which has transpired without any untoward incident.

State police administrative officer ACP Azam Abdul Hamid said t hat the 13th General Election went by peacefully and smoothly.

“Congratulations and thanks to all Sarawakians for their cooperation during the entire polling process. We hope this atmosphere can be maintained in future elections so that we can safeguard peace and public safety. We also would like to thank the candidates and all the election workers for their cooperation,” he said at a press conference here yesterday.

On the holding of public assemblies, Azam reminded organisers to apply for a permit first.

“All public assemblies or public talks must have a police permit from now on, because they will be regulated by the Peaceful Assemblies Act 2012, not the Election Act anymore,” he said.

He also reminded all political part ies to take down their campaigning posters and f lags as campaigning is over. “If they do not remove them, the local councils will,” he added.
