Public come to the aid of snatch theft victim

MIRI: The fast reaction of members of the public to a woman’s shout for help after someone snatched her handbag at a music café at North Yu Seng road saved the victim from the pain and anxiety of losing her personal papers and valuables on Sunday night.

The incident was reported to have occurred at about 11pm. According to some witnesses, the 33-year-old victim had placed her handbag on the table where she was drinking with her friends.

The sources added that after snatching the victim’s handbag, the man ran out of the café but before he could get very far patrons at a nearby coffee shop managed to grab him after the woman screamed for help.

The victim lodged a report at the Miri Central Police station and the suspect was later handed over to the police.
