Anyi and I will work hard for Baram — Rep

-

MIRI: Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau yesterday said he and newly-minted Baram MP Anyi Ngau would make a good team in developing Baram, at least in the next five years.

He said he was delighted with the result even though Anyi only managed to scrap through with a wafer-thin 194-vote majority in the three- cornered fight in the May 5 general election.

Anyi was up against Roland Engan from PKR and Patrick Sibat (independent candidate).

“From the very beginning, we knew Baram was going to see a very tough fight, especially since PKR started moving throughout the constituency since two years ago,” said Dennis when contacted yesterday.

“Nevertheless, all struggles and hardships that we went through in the 15 days of campaigning paid off.”

He described Anyi as a humble, dedicated, experienced and hardworking person, and it was precisely of these characteristics that he was picked to stand in this huge but sparsely populated constituency in northern Sarawak.

I respect him as my elder brother. We will work together for the betterment of the people in our constituency. Dennis Ngau, Telang Usan assemblyman

Dennis said he looked to Anyi as his senior even though he is basically a political greenhorn.

“I respect him as my elder brother. We will work together for the betterment of the people in our constituency.”

Ngau also thanked Marudi assemblyman Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran for helping Anyi to emerge victorious.

“I must congratulate him (Entri) for all that he has done. He is also our director of operations in Baram.”
