-

KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday sentenced a local man to two months’ jail for carrying a dangerous weapon in a public place.

Syah Noor Azzdie Syah Razzmy, 22, pleaded guilty before magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof to a charge framed under Section 6 (1) (e) of the Corrosive, Explosive and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958 which is punishable by a maximum jail term of two years and also whipping upon conviction.

He was caught carrying a knife inside his sling bag outside a premises at Api-Api Centre here on Feb 27.

Meanwhile, the same court yesterday set today to re-mention the case of a foreigner for committing a similar offence.

Nuruhuda put off the case of Najil Amang, 18, after rejecting his guilty plea as the accused had told the court that he could not understand Malay soon after the charge was read to him.

The charge stated that the accused had a samurai sword, a slingshot and eight arrows at Jalan University Malaysia Sabah at 3.30pm on April 26.
