SPL fixture abandoned as fan falls ill and dies
LONDON: A football fan who collapsed at the abandoned Scottish Premier League match between Kilmarnock and Hibernian died in hospital later Sunday from a suspected heart attack.
The man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was taken ill at the Rugby Park ground at the start of the second half where he was treated by medics. Both managers agreed the match, which was level at 1-1 at the time, should be abandoned. A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed to the Press Association that the man had died in hospital.
It is the third time in just over a year that a fan has been taken seriously ill at a Kilmarnock match. — AFP
