KUALA LUMPUR: Investment holding company, MNRB Holdings Bhd ( MNRB), will revamp its wholly- owned units to ensure each of them contributes equally to the company, said president and chief executive officer, Mohd Din Merican.

MNRB, formerly known as Malaysia National Reinsurance Bhd, is listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia and its whollyowned units are Malaysian Reinsurance Bhd, Takaful Ikhlas Sdn Bhd, MNRB Retakaful Bhd and Malaysian Re ( Dubai) Ltd.

“Currently, Malaysian Reinsurance contributes over 90 per cent to its revenue, followed by Takaful Ikhlas, MNRB Retakaful Bhd and Malaysian Re ( Dubai) Ltd,” he told Bernama at the recent Malaysian Unit Trust Week 2013 in Kangar.

Mohd Din said with the appointment of Ab Latiff Abu as Takaful Ikhlas’ president- cumchief executive officer early this year, MNRB hoped he could help the parent company achieve its goals.

“If Takaful Ikhlas delivers, then it would be much better,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ab Latiff said for the last three months he had been studying the staff strength and the company’s culture before moving into the distribution channel and marketing side, especially the agency.

The company offers Islamic financial protection services based on the takaful system, and it recently marked its 10th year in the takaful industry by winning the ‘Best Takaful Provider’ award for the third time at the Euromoney Islamic Finance Awards 2013.

“We have about 3,500 agencies from life and family insurance to boost our business.

Beside improving the channels and increasing the staff strength, we will be introducing different channels to increase our sales,” he said.

Ab Latiff said the company had improved its ranking to become the national takaful champion, and it was currently improving its portfolio.

“Takaful Ikhlas has a strong branding and we are trying to
