Promised devt agenda in the offing, Ahmad Lai tells Sibuti folk
MIRI: Member of Parliament for Sibuti Ahmad Lai Bujang attributed his handsome victory in retaining the seat during the 13th General Election to the people in Sibuti who still have strong faith in the BN leadership.
Ahmad Lai was grateful and thanked the people in Sibuti for giving BN a full mandate to continue leading the country on its successful path.
“I’m really happy and grateful that the people here have not defected to PR. Instead, they voted BN and have full trust in the leadership capability of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak,” he said to the media after the official result announcement of the seat at Bekenu Community Centre on Sunday.
At the same time, he did not expect to gain such a big majority of 6,066 votes.
During the general election in 2008, he defeated PKR candidate Dr Teo Yu Kheng with a majority of 3,648 votes.
In this second election (GE13), he took the lead with 13,348 votes and defeated the challenger, PAS candidate Muhammad Zaid @ Robby Tandang who only secured 7,282 votes.
In view of that, he hoped the people in Sibuti will accept the result with an open mind.
“The different political ideology should not be a major issue in restraining us to work closely. Just put aside all the personal political agenda and let’s work with BN to continue with the existing development activities in Sibuti.” He assured the
people that the government will fulfill the promises made by the prime minister for the next five years to uplift the people’s living standard.
He promised to serve the people with a sincere heart under the 1Malaysia spirit which gives strong emphasis on “People First, Performance Now”.
He pointed out there will be more development agenda to be implemented for the area.
“We are grateful that what had been promised during the last five years has been enjoyed by the people. Thus, continuous support is vital in order to ensure that BN can, in five years, change the development landscape of Sibuti.
Next among the major development projects for Sibuti are a fire and rescue service station and a hospital, as well as upgrading of existing public and tourism infrastructures that involve huge budgets, he said.
