SMK Marudi to celebrate golden jubilee

MARUDI: SMK Marudi will celebrate its 50th anniversar­y on May 17.

Themed ‘Once in a lifetime’, there will also be a reunion dinner at Mega Hotel, Miri the night before.

A statement yesterday said on the day itself, the school will hold an open day from 8am to 7pm.

SMK Marudi called on all alumni and the public to join the events such as badminton competitio­n, Bahasa Malaysia mock debate, model race car assembly competitio­n, science experiment demonstrat­ion, Iban dance and karaoke session.

There will also be traditiona­l Chinese dance, Sudoku competitio­n and Orang Ulu dance.

Food and funfair stalls will sell dishes such as nasi lemak, chicken rice, mixed rice, fried rice, Sarawak laksa, lemang, ayam pansuh, kolok mee, pizza, fried chicken wings, and pudding.

Used clothing, children’s clothing, as well as traditiona­l handicraft­s and souvenirs will also be available.

Visitors can also win RM2,000 worth of prizes during two lucky draws.

They can also tour the school grounds, visit the students’ hostels and view memorabili­a and photograph­s displayed at the school gallery. Admission is free.

Coupons for the food and funfair can be purchased from Sin ( 0198856626) or the coupon counter on May 17.

Tickets for the reunion dinner are available until Sunday from Irene Sim ( 019- 8846710).
