The basis of BN’S success in Limbang

-

LIMBANG: The success in developing rural areas had spurred rural folk to continue supporting the Barisan Nasional ( BN) government which led to the resounding victory of BN candidate Hasbi Habibollah here during the just concluded 13th general election (GE13).

PBB Batu Danau deputy chairman Jun Silah said the transformation of the rural areas had also changed the mindset of the people and brought them out of poverty.

“The seriousness of the government in bringing development including provision of infrastructure and basic amenities such as clean water supply and electricity had made the people aware of the government’s commitment in improving their quality of life,” he said yesterday.

Jun added that the dedication of Hasbi as an elected representative had also ensured that these basic amenities are made available to the people.

“Because of such commitment and dedication, the rural folks had increased their support to 75 per cent during GE13 compared to only 65 per cent during the last state election in 2011,” said Jun.

Meanwhile, he pointed out that the opposition’s keenness in politicising old issues such as land issues throughout the campaigning period had caused the people to reject them.

During GE13, BN through Hasbi won with a big majority of 8,301 although it was a straight fight with Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR).

Hasbi garnered 12,999 votes while state PKR chairman Baru Bian received 4,698 votes.

Meanwhile, Jun hoped that BN will implement what they had promised to the people and continue to bring development to the rural folk particularly in Limbang.
