Anwar should respect voters’ choice, says Talib
SIBU: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is urged to respect the voters’ choice and the results of the just- concluded election.
Assistant Minister of Tourism, who is also Jepak assemblyman, Datuk Talib Zulpilip said the election was conducted in a fair and democratic manner. The voters had used the ballot boxes to elect their representatives while the Election Commission ( EC) had exhibited its competence in conducting the election.
“No one has been stopped from casting their votes. Anyone not accepting and respecting the outcome of the election is deemed disrespectful to the people.
“The people have spoken loud and clear,” Talib said when contacted yesterday.
“In my opinion, voting in this election is something I will always remember as being pleasant and friendly.

We did meet when he and his family and my wife and I performed the Haj in 2008.
“We travelled on the same bus and stayed in same hotels and ate in the same restaurants. Datuk Takun and Tan Sri Abdul Aziz are honest and God-fearing persons.
“It was with consternation when I saw Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on CNN this morning ( Monday) stating his reluctance to concede defeat. He expressed unhappiness with the EC. Come on, Anwar, show your respect for the people.
“Even after having a bath and few showers since voting, and happily washing the ink, it is still there. I doubt if the EC clerks would allow me to vote again with my index finger still smeared.”
Talib also said he was pleased to note that the election campaign was trouble- free and the voting peaceful and orderly.
He said the rough and rude tactics of the opposition parties during the 2011 state election were somewhat contained this time. For this the good deeds of EC workers must be acknowledged.
As for Sarawak BN, he said the election results were satisfactory. He, however, felt sad for SUPP - a BN partner.
