SEOUL: Rapper Psy, crestfallen after the dismal performance of Gentleman worldwide, is to start recording new tracks immediately after returning from his current tour.

In an online interview, Psy said: “After Gentleman promotions, I’m planning on making a new album.”

For the fi rst time, he also plans to release it in the US.

“It will be the seventh album in Korea, and my debut album in America,” Psy said.

“I’m hoping for a summer season release.”

For the fi rst US release, Psy will be working with a variety of musicians.

“A great number of musicians will be participating in the album, and when I think of someone after listening to the tracks, I will be working with them,” Psy said.

Psy selected It’s Art from his fi fth album as his favourite song.

“Even though it is not a Psylike song, the emotional lyrics, melodies, and strong beats make a great match,” he explained.

In his brief tenure as an international pop star, Psy has already made it into the Guinness Book of World Records, twice.

Gentleman holds the record for the most YouTube views in a 24-hour period, after being viewed 38 million times on Apr 14, the day after it was released, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
