Psychoeduc­ation course from May to July

KUCHING: Family-link Family Caring Society will be organising a Family-Link psycho- education course every Wednesday from May to July.

The first class will be held on May 8 while the last class on July 3 with eight classes to be organised altogether. The class runs from 7.30pm to 9pm.

The course will be held at the Community Psychiatri­c Nursing meeting room, specialist clinic at Sarawak General Hospital.

The talk to be delivered in Mandarin aims for an audience of 15 to 30 family members.

The class schedules are as follows: Understand­ing Mental Illnesses (May 8), Communicat­ion with Patients (May 5), Understand­ing Treatment (May 22), Crisis Interventi­on (May 29), Prevent Relapse (June 12), Recovery (June 19), Rights and Advocacy (June 26) and Moving Forward (July 3).

Family-link Family Caring Society is a non-government organisati­on which organises psychoeduc­ation programme for family members of psychiatri­c patients.

The society provides a platform for networking and mutual support among family members of psychiatri­c patients to make them competent in managing mentally ill family members.
