Orphans get haircut with a difference

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Getting a haircut is something normal but for orphans at the Chrestus orphanage, it was “haircut with a difference” when six officers from the Pakistan Naval Ship ( PNS) Saif stopped by to give them “free haircuts”. The officers spent some three hours at the orphanage located in Cheras for “humanity service” which included the haircut and medical checkups.

Lt Commander Waseem Munawar, who led the delegation, said that they had enjoyed spending the time with the less fortunate children.

“Throughout this visit, we have learnt that whatever you do in your life, do spend quality time with the children as we can never know they may turn to be a great person and be able to contribute to the society and also the country one day,” Munawar told Bernama.

The delegation also handed out basicgroceriesandmedicalsupplies to the home’s representative.

Chrestus Orphanage which started operations in April 2001, is a care home with residential facilities and provides help for the abused, neglected and unprivileged children. It is also a social arm under the Cheras Lutheran Congregation.

The home is currently sheltering 10 children, both boys and girls, ranging from five to 18 years old who are schooling.

Meanwhile, Farrukh Mahmood, the defence advisor of the Pakistan High Commission here, said the visit was also to let the society know more about the home, which is in need of funds and donations. — Bernama
