Supporters protest against exclusion of Husam in exco

-

KOTA BAHARU: About 200 supporters of Datuk Husam Musa gathered peacefully to protest the ‘exclusion’ of the leader from the new state executive council lineup.

The protesters, who gathered since 9am in the compound of Kota Darul Naim, were seen holding up banners containing messages against excluding Husam and not listing State PAS Youth chief Abdul Latif Abdul Rahman in the exco lineup.

Some banners also had messages against the appointment of the Panchor State Assemblyman Datuk Nik Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah as deputy Menteri Besar.

The police maintained a tight rein in the compound of the complex and told the group to disperse as they did not have a permit and were also gathering at a forbidden area.

An hour later, the group gradually left. Three days ago, the Pasir Pekan State Assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Yakob was sworn in as the new Menteri Besar of Kelantan replacing Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat while Nik Mohd Amar was appointed his deputy.

Husam’s absence in the new exco lineup triggered a political polemic in the state and shocked many people. Husam is the Salor State Assemblyman.

Ahmad Tuesday clarified that the Kelantan Palace did not give consent to his appointment. Previously, Husam was the State Economic Planning, Finance and Welfare Committee chairman.

Husam, on his part, rapped the new exco line-up which he said was approved without following procedure. — Bernama
