Janelle Sing rising star in ‘Baby Blues 3D’

-

HONG KONG: There’s a new star on the block. Janelle Sing of upcoming horror flick Baby Blues

3D is set to dazzle the big screen with her versatile skills.

A graduate of the prestigious Beijing Film Academy, Janelle was handpicked by producer Raymond Wong Bak-Ming and is being nurtured into the next rising star. Confident that Janelle is the whole package, Raymond Wong has been heavily promoting her, giving her public exposure whenever possible. She was last seen in Wong’s Chinese New Year film Hotel Deluxe.

To further raise her profile, Wong has given Janelle a leading role in Baby Blues 3D, starring alongside popular TVB artist Raymond Lam. Playing his disturbed wife, Janelle will share significant screen time with Raymond, including several passionate bed scenes. Despite their intimate collaboration, Janelle sees Raymond as only a brother, calling him professional and a gentleman.

Raymond’s real-life girlfriend Karena Ng also makes an appearance in the film as Janelle’s sister. Since Janelle and Karena belong to the same company, some are alleging rivalry as Karena lost favour due to her absorption in dating. Others are trying to ignite rumours about a possible love triangle off the set. Janelle denies any romantic inklings and urges the public not to compare her with Karena.

For two actresses who share the same target audience, it is certainly tempting to compare. Although Karena is well known to the public and has more industry experience, Janelle may have the advantage due to her pedigreed training and graceful appeal. In addition, Janelle is starting off with a clean slate while Karena’s public image has been largely dictated by her relationship with Raymond.

Whether Janelle can stand on her own, will depend on her effort and the public’s reception. For now, the 23-year-old is busy building a solid foundation for her career, filling her calendar with promotional functions, advertisements, and television

dramas.
