Go for world market to expand reach, food producers told

-

SIBU: Local food producers should tap the export market to widen the reach of their products, suggested Assistant Minister of Industrial Development ( Investment and Promotion) Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

“We always encourage them to go for export market and for that reason, we urge them to participate in domestic or even international expos to better promote their products.

“Through such platforms, they will be able to get orders from overseas market,” Julaihi, who is Sebuyau assemblyman, told reporters yesterday.

He said this when asked if the locally produced ‘dim sum’ by Golden Lung Birdnest Centre could be exported.

Julaihi pointed out that the managing director of the company, Robert Wong Ming, was currently exploring the local market, and the product was marketed to local hotels here.

He said the eight-month shelf life of the product made it suitable for export.

“The fresh frozen ‘dim sum’ or dumpling has to undergo several layers of process, including placing in a chilling room at minus 18 degrees.”

Golden Lung Birdnest Centre produces various types of foodstuff.

“Their products are halal certified and this is another development in the food industry,” Julaihi said after a visit to the centre.

Meanwhile, Wong disclosed that he sold about 2,000 packets a month at RM14 each.

Among those present were Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee, political secretary to the chief minister and Jomoreng asseblyman Abu Seman Jahwie and Daro assemblyman Murni Suhaili.
