Lean management increases productivity
KUCHING: Lean Management ( LM) is said to be able to help manage and increase productivity among workers in the public and private sector.
Malaysia Productivity Corporation ( MPC) board member Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg said LM, which has been promoted since 2011 through seminars and workshops, has positively enhanced productivity.
“By having such workshops and seminars, MPC hopes that there would be more awareness of the practices in LM and lean culture can get wider coverage,” he said before officiating at the Lean Management Seminar 2014 yesterday.
It involved 150 participants from various federal and state departments and agencies.

“This year MPC will double its efforts in carrying out LM-based on the ‘National Lean Roadmap’ and the focus for 2014 is the service sector – health, factories, education and small and medium enterprises,” he said.
There will be 75 Employment Intensive Investment Programme ( EIIP) projects this year, six lean study missions overseas, nine hands- on lean seminars and more than 600 training programmes to increase productivity and innovation.
MPC and the Sarawak Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) will also hold a workshop for industries in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri from April 21-24.
Among those at the seminar were Federal Secretary Datuk Mohd Yahaya Basimin, MPC deputy director Datuk Ahmad Fadzil Mahmud and MPC regional manager Mohd Norjayadi Tamam.
