Ann Osman remains optimistic of winning One FC ‘War of Nations’ title

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s f irst female pro mixed martial arts exponent ( MMA) Ann Osman expressed optimism of winning the One FC “War of Nations” even though she remains under pressure when compet ing on home soil.

Ann will face top Singaporea­n WMMA Prospect Sherilyn Lim at the Stadium Negara today in the challenge that also features 20 other fighters.

“Definitely I am under a little bit of pressure because all eyes will be on me. I have to keep calm and be focused on winning because I am well-prepared physically and mentally,” she said at the One FC “War of Nations” weighing-in, here yesterday.

Ann said they ( Ann and coaches) have been working ha rd on i mpr ov i n g h e r performanc­e by analysing the first fight on video to look at where things needed to be adjusted and improved.

“I have been undergoing intensive training for about six weeks before the championsh­ip. I am more of an all-rounder but I am comfortabl­e with striking and g rappl ing . I h ave a heav y hand and good at knock- out punches too,” she said.

Among other fighters in the competitio­n are Brock Larson, Nobutatsu Suzuki, Dae Hwan Kim, Kevin Belingon, Adriano Moraes, Yasuhiro Urushitani, Ariel Sexton, Kamal Shalorus, Shinichi Kojima, Andrew Leone, Kotetsu Boku, Arnaud Lepont, Waqar Umar, Peter Davis, Harris Sarmiento, Herbert Burns, Khim Dima and Saiful Merican. — Bernama
