‘Government has system to determine land status’
MIRI: The government has a proper system to determine the status of land, be it state land, Native Customary Right ( NCR) land or others, when acquiring land for development projects.
Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Sylvester Entri also said the state government recognised the rights of Bumiputeras on NCR lands.
“There is no dispute at all because the land code is in place to ensure smoother implementation of development agenda,” he said when representing Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan at the presentation of compensation cheques and land titles to the people at the Land and Survey Department premises here yesterday.
Entri, who is also Marudi assemblyman, advised the people with land problems, particular with NCR land, to come to the Land and Survey Department to check.
On the needs of the government to acquire land, Entri said this was to allow for the implementation of government projects such as roads and bridge to benefit the people.
Later, he has presented compensation cheques amounting to RM322,777.20 to 65 landowners from Sungai Entulang and two from Sungai Tapan, Bakam whose land were acquired for road building and upgrading at Rumah Justin Manai, Sungai Entulang and the replacement of temporary bridge at Sungai Tapan Kecil, Bakam.
He said the land was compensated based on the market value.
