DBNA Miri Education Award 2014 ceremony expects good attendance
MIRI: More than 400 guests are expected to attend DBNA Miri Education Award 2014 ceremony which will be held at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club tomorrow.
The dinner will witness the presentation of recognition certificate and incentives to Bidayuh students who excelled in their UPSR, PMR, SPM and STPM examination in 2012 and 2013.
The dinner will also present recognition certificate to Bidayuhs here who graduated from any higher learning institution within the same period.
“However, we have only received seven candidates for UPSR, nine for PMR and one for SPM,” DBNA Miri secretary Caroline Siburat said.
Those who excelled in the mentioned public examination and graduates within the two-year period are urged to get in touch with Caroline latest by today to be listed for the award.
The award is open to Bidayuhs, including those with mixed parentage, who scored straight As in UPSR and PMR as well as a minimum of 9As in SPM and 4Ps of A and B in their STPM examination.
“We hope Bidayuh parents will take advantage of this opportunity and help to submit the names of their children or relatives so that they can be recognised for their academic excellence, the latest by today (March 14),” she said
The guest-of-honour for the dinner will be the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communication Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong.
The event has been given the theme ‘Empowering Community Through Education’.
She said the award is not only to give recognition to Bidayuh students but also to encourage and motivate them to perform better in their studies.
