KUCHING: Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party ( SPDP) president Tan Sri William Mawan has confirmed that everything concerning the reinstatement process of the socalled G5 back to the party has been finalised.

Mawan, who is Social Development Minister, said what’s left was only formality, that is for the state Barisan Nasional ( BN) chairman and Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem to witness the ‘ coming home’ process.

He said that to further cement the deal and to formalise the relationship, the state BN chairman will have to witness and make final arrangements. We will communicate to him and he will call us,” he told reporters here after chairing the Sarawak Dayak National Union ( SDNU) meeting.

G5 consists of Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Peter Nansian, former Mas Gading MP Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe, Marudi assemblyman Datuk Sylvester Entri, Bekenu assemblywoman Rosey Yunus and Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang.

However, Mawan was recently quoted as saying that Dr Tiki could not be reinstated together with the others as he had contested against BN as an independent candidate in the last general election.

“Dr Tiki however can still apply to rejoin the party if he wants to, separately,” he said.

Mawan said the administrative processes for the reinstatement such as filling in forms can be done later

On the time frame of the reinstatement, he said it would be done ‘in the next few days or so’.

“Their commitment has been made publicly between us; me as the president, chief minister and the prime minister ( Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) during a dinner recently.

Meanwhile, Mawan who is also SDNU president said he would negotiate for SDNU to have more share in ‘ Rumah Dayak’ than the 20 per cent share it currently holds.

He said Rumah Dayak should be able to manifest the Dayak community’s image, status and commitment, adding that the building would be issued the occupational permit ( OP) once the water and electricity supplies were connected“I will have to go (to Rumah Dayak) to see whether other corporations or other initiatives can be developed in the city to further manifest our presence.”
