Colgate to hold ‘Dental Checks’ roadshow

-

KUCHING: Colgate will be holding a two- day ‘ Dental Checks’ roadshow at Everrise 4th Mile here beginning tomorrow.

The event, to be from 12.30pm to 3.30pm and 5.30pm to 8.30pm, is held in conjunction with Oral Health Month, which is celebrated in April annually.

This annual campaign aims to educate Malaysians on the importance of good oral care habits and dental visits for a cavity-free future.

“The Oral Health Month campaign is into its 11th year. It is a collaboration between Colgate and the Malaysian Dental Association ( MDA) with the support of the Ministry of Health ( MoH),” said a press statement here yesterday.

This year, the partnership aimed to work ‘Towards a CavityFree Future’.

Such objective is in line with one of the key ‘Oral Health Goals’ for the year 2020, pushing for better oral health among Malaysians, specifically amongst children.

In 2012, less than one-third or 32.8 per cent of 6-year- olds were decay- free, bringing the total of 6-year- olds that still suffer from tooth decay to 70 per cent.

Supporting the World Health Organisation’s ( WHO) goal of ‘Start Early, Healthy Mouth for a Healthier Life’, Oral Health Month will focus on driving the importance of early awareness and education to achieve the goal of ensuring 50 per cent of 6-yearolds is cavity-free by 2020.

With strong support from MDA and MoH, Oral Health Month has reached out to over 500,000 Malaysians since its inception in 2004.
