KL band Nation of Hydra rocking Victoria Arms for three nights
KUCHING: Brace yourself for three nights of the rhythmpumping ‘ live’ showcase by KL band Hydra from April 10-12 ( Thursday to Sunday), 10pm onwards in Victoria Arms ( VA), the English pub at Merdeka Palace Hotel and Suites.
‘ Nation of Hydra’ from Kuala Lumpur is a quintet that has been blazing the Malaysian music scene from its inception in 2003.
Hydra’s vocal and guitar frontman Lan leads the band, with fiery guitars licks provided by G-Beng. And thumping to one of the best bass in town is bassist Boy who lends the right support to the metronome-like drumming of Aizat.
Tying all of that up in a beautiful cascade of ivory is keyboardist Jezz. These five make up the unstoppable Hydra.
Hydra’s versatility in rendering a range of musical genres is astounding. However, they choose to stay true to rock and ballads by bringing in cover songs from the 80s to current times.
With each member of the band playing his instrument fabulously, the unique point to Hydra is that every member sings. This brings a fresh harmony of melodious voices crooning together or separately in a performance.
Hydra, as of 2013, has gone another notch higher being recognised to lend their super musicality towards a Malaysian blockbuster movie ‘ DAMPAK’ that hit the cinemas in September 2013.
Hydra provided the originally composed title track for the movie ( Hujung Mentari) and is set to release an EP album by end of first quarter 2014.
In addition to that, Lan the lead singer was recently awarded with the Best Malaysian Vocalist VIMA Music Awards 2014 by fz.com. VIMA Music Awards is a significant event that supports local artistes who truly deserve to be accorded recognition.
The five of them are Lan ( band leader and vocalist), I-Zad (drummer), Jezz ( keyboardist), G-Beng (guitarist) and Boy ( bassist and vocalist).
