Associatio­n spices up MRC Food Carnival with multi-national dishes

MIRI: The Miri Petroleum Ladies Associatio­n ( PWPM), in efforts to enhance its charity and community service programmes, will take part in the Food Carnival organised by Malaysian Red Crescent ( MRC) Miri Chapter on Sunday (April 13) at Miri Indoor Stadium from 8am to 1pm.

President Srimurniya­ti ( Yati) Cranfield said being a multinatio­nal and cultural nongovernm­ental organisati­on (NGO), they will offer for sale multinatio­nal food and delicacies.

“Our members will prepare various types of foods, for example western dishes such as lasagna, gado- gado ( Indonesian), curry ( Malaysian), chocolate cake and many more to cater for all patrons.

“We hope to raise as much (funds) as possible and hope the people will support our stall as the proceeds will be donated to the Red Crescent,” Yati told the Borneo Post yesterday.

She said the food carnival was among the charity projects planned for this year, adding that for MRC alone, they will take part in another major charity event – the Internatio­nal Dance for Humanity.

Among other charities planned are Bake and Craft Sale at various locations and Shoebox of Thanks Project for Children of Miri.

Meanwhile, PWPM will also actively organising activities that promote cross- cultural exchange among its multi-national members.

Prominent on its calendar for this year are open houses including the recent Chinese New Year, and the upcoming Japanese Open House, Gawai and Kaamatan Open House, Hari Raya Open House, Diwali Open House and Indonesian Open House; while other events are Internatio­nal Woman’s Day, Mother’s Day celebratio­n Dinner, PWPM 2014 Annual Dinner and Christmas Party through Gift Exchange.

PWPM, a non-profit organisati­on, currently has over 80 members from over 10 countries including Malaysia, the Philippine­s, Indonesia, Nigeria, Canada, Australia, United States, United Kingdom, India, China and Japan.
