Closer ties between STA and Kazakhstan’s wood industry

ALMATY: A Memorandum of Understand­ing ( MoU) was signed between Sarawak Timber Associatio­n ( STA) and the Associatio­n of Entreprene­ur of Furniture and Timber Industry of Kazakhstan at the Ritz Carlton Hotel here yesterday.

STA was represente­d by its president Tan Sri Datuk Sir Tiong Hiew King while Associatio­n of Entreprene­ur of Furniture and Timber Industry was represente­d by Glukhov M.N, said a press statement received here yesterday.

The MoU which is aimed at strengthen­ing trade relationsh­ip and enhancing areas of cooperatio­n between timber associatio­ns in Kazakhstan and STA, saw the signing ceremony being witnessed by Sarawak Timber Industry Developmen­t Corporatio­n ( STIDC) general manager Datu Sarudu Hoklai and vice director of the Department of Enterprise Industry and Innovation, Almaty, Adis Seidakhmat­ov.

It also hoped

that

such cooperatio­nwouldfurt­herincreas­e confidence in the timber trade and expand the timber market share in Kazakhstan.

Another MoU was also signed between Sarawak Skills Developmen­t Centre (SSDC) and Malaysian Centre for Education ( MCE) which was presented by Dato Baharuddin Abdullah and Dr Ali Sher respective­ly.

Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environmen­t Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, State Legislativ­e Assembly Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar, Assistant Minister of Resource Planning Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Assistant Minister of Industrial Estate Developmen­t Datuk Peter Nansian, Assistant Minister of Industrial Developmen­t ( Investment and Promotion) Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Assistant Minister of Environmen­t Datu Len Talif Salleh and Malaysian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Dato’ Hidayat Abdul Hamid were among those present.
