THe Spring Live Active Run back this Sunday
KUCHING: ‘tHe Spring Live Active Run 2014’ will kick off this Sunday with over 3,200 participants from 20 different countries expected to participate in the run organised for the third year running.
The annual run covers five different categories namely 21km half-marathon, 21km Ekiden Relay, 10km run, 5km fun run and 1km kids’ dash and is the only largescale community sports event in the state that caters to men, women and families of all ages and from all walks of life.
tHe Spring in a press statement would like to inform all participants of this Sunday’s event that the two- day Race Pack Collection will commence this Friday (June 13) from 11am until 10pm and again at the same time on Saturday (June 14). Those still interested to join this event may drop by for on-thespot registration and payment at ‘ tHe Spring’s Live Active Run Sports Fair’ starting tomorrow to Friday at the tHe Spring’s North Court.
The public are reminded to take note of the race’s route and partial road closure of Jalan Simpang Tiga when the run is held from 4am to 10am this Sunday.
They are also urged to plan their journey and take alternate routes to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams.
tHe Spring apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused to the public and will make all efforts to bring traffic back to normal after the event. Live Active Run has always been about bringing the community together to promote health, togetherness and charity and this year is no exception as ‘tHe Spring Live Active Run 2014’ has raised RM60,000 for four charities namely Habitat for Humanity, Sarawak Hospice Society, Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group and Special Olympics Sarawak.
Going beyond the original pledge of RM45,000, raising that amount could not have happened without the support of the two main sponsors - Mitsubishi Motors, Coneli Sports and Level Up Fitness.
Other supporters include Brooks Footwear, Crabtree & Evelyn, 100Plus, DBC Kuching, Nestle, The Kuching Marathon Association, Hornbill Pacesetters, and TEEM Event & Exhibition Management.
tHe Spring also expressed its gratitude to Kuching South City Council ( MBKS), Kuching North City Commission ( DBKU), Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Social and Urban Development Sarawak for the endorsement of this event.
