M’sia has initiatives to ensure effective labour force, says Riot
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian government has undertaken various initiatives to constantly ensure that an effective and dynamic labour administration system prevails in the country, said Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot.
He said it was a demonstration of Malaysia’s commitment with regard to the critical role played by labour administration system as the key institution of governance of the labour market.
This was done in recognition of the key role of the government in facilitating greater and continued access to employment opportunities for its citizenry; accord greater workers’ welfare protection and maintenance of quality industrial relations, he said.
Besides that, he said fair and equitable settlement of industrial disputes; implementation of dynamic occupational safety and health programmes; and the development of nationwide competitive manpower as well as securing enhanced social safety network were also the roles played by the government.
“These are testimony of the Malaysian government’s commitment to facilitate greater workers’ accessibility to the Decent Work Agenda besides ensuring their continued participation and inclusiveness in the mainstream economic and social development agenda of the country,” he said at the 103rd Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva yesterday.
