Jun Ji Hyun, Kim Soo Hyun voted most popular in Taiwan
TAIPEI: Stars of You Who Came From the Stars Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun have been voted the most popular Korean showbiz celebrities in Taiwan.
They ranked top in a survey of 496 people conducted by the Korea Tourism Organisation in Taipei.
Kim Soo Hyun took the top spot as the best male Korean drama star with 47.8 per cent of the votes. Lee Min Ho followed with 21.2 per cent while Kim Woo Bin came in third place (4.8).
Super Junior and So Ji Sub tied for the fourth place with 4.4 per cent while Hyun Bin took the sixth place with 3.4 per cent.
CnBlue, Lee Seung Gi, and Big Bang gained lower number of votes with three per cent, 2.2 per cent, and 2 per cent respectively.
For the best female star category, Jun Ji Hyun reclaimed her spot in the fi rst place that she had held back in 2012 with 48.8 per cent of the votes.
Song Hye Gyo followed with 8.8 per cent. Third were Girls’ Generation ( 8.), followed by Ha Ji Won (7.).
While Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun by virtue of their individual talents, their immense popularity in Taiwan can be attributed to the huge following of the drama in the country.
After his smash TV drama, My Love From the Stars, Kim Soo Hyun has posed for a series of top magazine brands in Asia including Marie Claire Taiwan and Korea.
He said the hit soap opera gave him the opportunity to communicate better with his fans through various tours and projects.
Kim is also the brand ambassador for the June issue of Femina China, Elle Man Hong Kong, and Me Hong Kong.
Aside from his modelling stints in Asian magazines, Kim is also the new face of international brands such as Häagen Dazs, Coca- Cola, Hyundai, Samsung, and The Face Shop.
